The Best Books and Articles I Read in 2020

Here are some best books and there is no particular order; I have read some and some of them read by my fellows;

The Elephant in the Brain by Robin Hanson and Kevin Simler

"We, human beings, are a race capable of not only behaving for unknown motives, but also of doing so. Our brains are designed to behave in our interests while constantly trying to resist selfishness before others.

"The Elephant in the Brain" refers to the unseen reasons behind our behavior, which don't make us look huge, but offer a logical reason why we do apparently insane things. 

Page of interest: Another extension of the principles in this book was to work, and the authors explain how they would be franchised and less proprietary if Harvard (and other Universities) really took control in schooling. It implies that these schools care more about reputation and advertising than for education as they do not. 

The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch

 "Everything that the laws of nature do not forbid is attainable in terms of the correct intelligence."

The fundamental principle of "The beginning of time" is that, if adequate information is available, all problems are soluble if the laws of physics are not broken. It is an optimistic look at how technology and science can unfold our future and how we will always be at the beginning of a wealth of future knowledge and development.

Interesting part: One section of the book looks at memetics and the need for social development to be flexible and open to new concepts to replace the old one, whereas a static society with fixed concepts could never progress. It can also be done directly.
